My Printmaking Creative Process
I make every print by hand from start to finish. First, I carve the design into a linoleum block using sharp gouges — the hare’s posture, the glow of the wisdom globe, the Frankfurt skyline reflected in the water all had to be balanced carefully in the composition. When the block is ready, I use a brayer to roll a thin, even layer of ink across it and carefully lay a sheet of paper on top. Then I apply pressure to transfer the image. The final step is peeling back the paper to reveal the print. My hands are involved in every single step. Because of this, every print carries its own small variations — tiny imperfections that make it genuinely yours, not mass-produced.
The Magician Hare Tarot Linocut Print Inspiration
Frankfurt has hares. Not many people know this — but if you walk through Sachsenhausen at dusk, or cut across a quiet park on the Nordend, you might spot one. Ears up, perfectly still, watching you with the kind of calm that suggests it knows something you don’t.
I’ve always been fascinated by the Magician card — the one who stands at the threshold between worlds, holding the tools of transformation. When I imagined him as a hare, standing on the banks of the Main River with the skyline behind him and a glowing wisdom globe in his paw, it clicked. Magic and the city. Mystery and modernity. The ancient and the urban, side by side.
This print is for the tarot lovers, the urban mystics, the people who believe in a little everyday magic. It’s also simply for anyone who finds hares as quietly extraordinary as I do.
Please note: product images are for orientation purposes only. Colours may differ slightly due to monitor calibration, and paper size or texture may vary slightly. As each print is hand-printed, slight variations and differences between individual prints are to be expected — these are part of the handmade character and what makes your print uniquely yours.
