My Printmaking Creative Process

I hand-carve the design, working carefully through the details that give the mountain goat and its rocky perch their character. I then hand-print each impression using oil-based or water-based ink on textured, acid-free paper, chosen for its tactile feel and durability. The contrast between the ink and paper brings the scene into focus, while subtle differences from one impression to the next keep the hand of the maker visible.

Summit Seeker Inspiration

Summit Seeker celebrates the grace and determination of a mountain goat standing confidently on a rugged cliff. For me, it holds the spirit of high-altitude adventure: the pull of wild places and the courage to reach a little higher. I wanted to bring that sense of wonder indoors, whether it finds a home on a nature lover’s wall or in a cosy nook that could use a little wilderness.

As the 2027 Year of the Fire Goat approaches in the Chinese zodiac, I find a new connection in this brave climber: a quiet presence with an inner spark. To me, the meeting of goat and fire suggests gentleness without standing still, and the warmth of pursuing something that matters. Though printed in cool blue, Summit Seeker can hold that small flame of intention: a reminder to find your footing, trust your own pace and keep moving towards the next summit.

It makes a thoughtful gift to mark a Lunar New Year, a new beginning or a personal milestone, as well as a companion for adventurers, nature enthusiasts and art lovers. From New Year’s Day and Valentine’s Day to Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Halloween and Christmas, it brings a little wilderness to the occasion.
